How to Remove Rust on a 66 Mustang

The 66 Mustang is a classic car. Because of its age, rust is very likely. But most car enthusiasts take care of a classic car, removing any rust as soon as it appears. But if you do buy a used 66 Mustang that has not been maintenanced, it is still possible to get rid of the rust.

Instructions

    1

Scrub away all rust with a scrubbing pad or steel wool pad.

    2

Put on work gloves before handing the acidic rust remover. Place a large amount of rust remover onto a steel wool pad and then rub the remover into the rust on the Mustang.

    3

Allow the rust remover to dissolve the rust for 10 to 15 minutes.

    4

Wipe off the rust with a rag or paper towels.

    5

Paint automotive primer onto the rusted areas using a paint brush. The primer is rust-proof and protects the Mustang from rust formation. Allow primer to dry.

    6

Repaint the rusted areas with touch-up paint if necessary. Let the paint dry.
