2001 Audi S4 Problems

2001 Audi S4 Problems

Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports no safety recalls for Volkswagens 2001 Audi S4 as of 2010, NHTSA has record of various Technical Service Bulletins and consumer complaints pointing to problems with this models electrical system, engine, and drivers side seats.

Electrical Problems

On January 26, 2010, Volkswagen issued a Technical Service Bulletin and reported to the NHTSA that owners of 2001 Audi S4 vehicles may experience problems with malfunctioning ignition coils. This issue could cause the indicator light to alert the driver of deterioration in performance. Consumer complaints to NHTSA indicate that missing pixels in the instrument panel may keep the driver from being able to read safety warnings.

Engine Problems

Multiple consumers have complained to NHTSA that their 2001 Audi S4 vehicles have experienced coolant leaking into the engine. If not repaired, this can lead to motor failure. A Technical Service Bulletin was issued in 2005 by the manufacturer but, as of 2010, no recall has been issued.

Seat Problems

The NHTSA has received several consumer complaints about drivers side seats rocking in 2001 Audi S4 models. One consumer report indicates that a year after having the seat rails and frame replaced by the dealer, the same problem has resurfaced. No Technical Service Bulletins or recalls have been issued to address this problem as of 2010.
