How to Check If a Recalled Vehicle Got Fixed
When a manufacturer recall is issued for a particular vehicle, the manufacturer provides the parts and labor necessary for the repair free of charge. After this repair is made, the dealership logs the vehicle identification number and stores this information in a computerized database. This information is kept on file in order to keep track of which vehicles have been repaired. In order to obtain this information, the VIN is needed.

Locate and record the VIN for the vehicle in question. The VIN is displayed underneath the windshield on a small plaque in the lower-left (drivers side) corner.
2Contact a new car dealership in your area by telephone that sells that particular make and model of vehicle. Ask to speak to a service adviser in the service department.
3Tell the service adviser that you are looking for recall information on a particular vehicle. Read them the VIN when prompted. They will look up the repair information in their computer system and notify you if the vehicle has been repaired according to the recall repair instructions.

How Do I Check If a Fuel Injector Is Working Properly
Properly working fuel injectors allow a vehicles engine to run and perform at a high level. However, even a slight clogging of an injector is enough to cause driveability issues with your vehicle. Its beneficial to be able to determine if a fuel injector is working properly.
Symptoms
There are several symptoms an automobile can display that will help you determine if your fuel injector is working properly, such as power loss to the vehicle. A car that hesitates when you attempt to take off from a dead stop is also a classic sign of fuel injector problems.
Testing
Another way to check and see if your fuel injectors are working properly is by running a flow test on them. The standard rate at which fuel should flow from the injectors can be compared with the injectors current flow rate. A flow that is not up to par indicates that your injectors have problems that need addressing.
Mileage
Yet another way to find clues about the condition of your injectors is by figuring out the mileage that has been traveled with them. Because experts suggest that fuel injectors should be cleaned before reaching 30,000 miles, distances over this benchmark indicate a need to at least have your fuel injectors checked.

How to Check the Temperature Control Sensor on a 1997 Chrysler Concorde 3 5 Engine
The Chrysler Concorde, also known as the sister car to the more popular Dodge Intrepid, came from the factory with two V-6 engine options; a 2.7-liter engine and a more-powerful 3.5-liter engine. Of the two engines, the 3.5-liter engine was noted for its increased reliability over the smaller engine, which was prone to oil sludge problems. To help control and monitor the engine temperature, the 3.5-liter engine contains a coolant temperature sensor, located on the thermostat housing at the front of the engine.

Start the engine and allow it warm to operating temperature, which is 200-degrees Fahrenheit.
2Locate the coolant temperature sensor on the top of the thermostat housing. Its mounted vertically and has two wires protruding from its base.
3Disconnect the coolant temperature sensors two-wire electrical connector. Measure the resistance across the sensors two terminals with a digital multimeter; the specified value is 700 to 1,000 Ohms.
4Let the engine cool down for three to four hours until the coolant is at room temperature. Measure the resistance again across the terminals with a digital multimeter. The resistance at 70-degrees Fahrenheit should be between 7,000 and 13,000 Ohms. If the resistance falls outside either of the hot or cold values, the sensor must be replaced.
5Measure the resistance across the pin terminals on the sensors electrical connector. If the resistance is greater than 1 Ohm, replace the sensors connector.

How to Reset Check Engine Lights in 2003 Subaru Foresters
Subaru is a Japanese company that started manufacturing the Foresters back in 1997. The on-board diagnostics computer will illuminate the "Check Engine" light on the instrument cluster when it detects a malfunction from one of the sensors in the emissions system or in the engine. You need a scan tool to read the trouble code generated by the computer. This tool can be obtained from any auto parts store. Once the code has been read and the problem fixed, you may still need to reset the light and shut off the "Check Engine" light. This can be done without the use of any special tools and it should only take you about 10 minutes to complete the task.

Find the fuse panel cover on the drivers side dashboard and pull it open with your fingers.
2Put the key into the ignition and turn it to "Run."
3Locate and remove the fuse pullers within the fuse panel. Look on the inside of the fuse panel cover and locate the ECU fuse. Pull this fuse out of the fuse box using the fuse pullers.
4Wait about five minutes and the put the ECU fuse back in place.
5Turn the vehicle on and verify that the "Check Engine" light has shut off.

How to Check a Yamaha 1982 Motorcycle Starter
The starter on your 1982 Yamaha motorcycle engages the motor to propel the bike when the rider hits the gas. If you are having problems with your 1982 Yamaha starter, you are probably thinking that you need to employ a motorcycle mechanic to get it fixed. The truth is that you can check the starter yourself with very little hassle. Testing this starter will allow you diagnose the problem yourself without spending money on a service shop.

Put a pan under your Yamaha motorcycle and pull the 24mm oil plug from the bottom of the engine panel. Allow the oil to drain from the engine.
2Use a socket wrench to remove the screws holding the left side engine cover onto the motorcycle. The amount of screws holding the cover onto the bike will vary from model to model.
3Go to the front of the motorcycles engine and look for the starter. The starter is a large ring with a bolt coming from the center of it. Use your hands to pull the starter out enough to expose the wiring.
4Use a voltmeter to get a volt reading from the starters red and black wires. If you get a reading less than 12V from the starter, you need to replace the unit.

How to Check Engine Codes for the Mazda B2200
The 1992 Mazda B2200 came equipped with a "Power Control Module" that helps control and diagnoses the functions of the engine and other vital parts of the vehicle. Each vehicle, regardless of make and model, come equipped with a system that assigns a code to each issue and stores it in the "tester" box. With the right tools and knowing how to interpret the codes, check engine codes of your Mazda B2200 without having to take it to a repair shop.

Warm up the engine for one to two minutes before shutting it off. This will cause any problems with the Mazda to show up during the diagnostic reading.
2Pop open the hood and locate the "Tester" box, which is a 2-by-2-inch box on the driver side of the engine.
3Find the connections labeled "STI and "SIG RTN." Securely connect a 3-inch metal wire, with a plastic protective covering, from the SIG RTN to the STI slot. Wiggle the wire to ensure the wire will not become loose during the test.
4Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine. Watch for the blinking "Check Engine" light. With a paper and writing utensil, write down the pattern of short and long intervals between flashes of light. The intervals corresponds with codes in a repair manual. Check your local library, repair shop or online database for a list of engine codes.

How to Reset the 1997 Volkswagen Check Engine Light
The on-board diagnostics computer on the 1997 Volkswagen monitors the engine functions via sensors positioned throughout the engine. When one of the sensors detects a malfunction in the engine, it sends a signal to the OBD computer, which in turn illuminates the "Check Engine" light on your dashboard. You can reset and clear the light by using a diagnostic code scanner. Fix the problem first before resetting the light in order to ensure your OBD computer continues to function properly

Locate the diagnostic port on the dashboard beneath the heater control panel. The port is the same size and shape as the connector on the diagnostic code scanner. Plug the scanner into the port.
2Put the key into the ignition and turn the key to "Run." Dont start the engine. This will power on the diagnostic code scanner automatically.
3Push a button that reads "Scan Codes" (or similar) on your diagnostic code scanner. Wait while the scanner completes its work. It will list the trouble codes on the face of the scanner.
4Press "Clear Codes" or "Delete" (or similar) on the diagnostic code scanner. When the scanner returns to the menu screen or displays a message to indicate the codes have been cleared, unplug the scanner from the port.
5Turn the vehicle off and wait a couple of minutes. Turn the engine on and examine the instrument panel. The check engine light should now be off.
