So Fix it

The automatic stability control component of the suspension system in approximately 1,970 2006 Hyundai models is the focus of a recall that began on July 29, 2005, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 05V316000

Identification

Problems with rear suspension are more likely to occur on models equipped with 3.3-liter engines and electronic stability control. Sonatas and Azerras produced from May 5, 2005, to June 10, 2005, are among the affected vehicles. Strut problems are not as common on the Hyundai I4.

Electronic Stability Control

Electronic stability control identifies over-steering and activates the front outside brake. In the affected models, ESC may be activated unnecessarily. Testing revealed that the hydraulic electronic control unit required reprogramming in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Owners of the affected vehicles may also experience a thunking or klunking sound.

Solution

Hyundai dealerships may recommend installation of a rubber bushing on top of left and right rear strut mounts or replacement of struts. This particular job requires approximately 30 minutes of labor.

Car batteries drain when the car is off and electrical components are still being utilized. If your Hyundai Veracruzs car battery has been drained, it is possible that it may lack the charge to turn the engine on. Jump starting the car with the use of another functioning car is an ideal solution when a battery charger is not readily available.

Position the cars close to each other so that they jumper cables can easily reach the terminals on both batteries. Make sure that the cars do not touch each other and the charged battery on the functioning car is a 12 volt battery.

Turn off all electrical devices and components to keep the electrical consumption to a minimum. Do not turn on the headlights under any circumstance as they consume too much electricity.

Clamp one end of the red, positive jumper cables to the discharged batterys positive "+" terminal, then clamp the other end to the positive "+" terminal on the charged battery.

Clamp one end of the black, negative cable to the charged batterys negative "-" terminal, then the other end to a solid, non-moving metallic point in the Veracruz. Be sure not to connect it to any fuel lines or any parts that move when the engine starts.

Turn the functioning car on and rev its engine to 2,000 RPM. Wait a few moments and start the Veracruzs engine. Remove the negative and positive jumper cables from both cars.

The Hyundai Elantra GT is a Korean made car that is shipped all over the world. The fog lights that are mounted on the front of the car are 55-watt bulbs. Fog lights are used when visibility is low due to inclement weather. The Hyundai Elantra takes a 9006 style replacement bulb, which is a common and easy to find fog light.

Raise up the front of your Hyundai using a jack to support it. Disconnect the wiring to the fog lights. The wiring is connected using a harness, so simply depress the locking tab and pull it off.

Turn the bulb in a counterclockwise direction until you feel or hear a click. This means that it has unlocked from the housing. Pull the fog light straight out.

Push the new bulb into the housing connector and then turn it in a clockwise direction.

Reconnect the wiring by clicking the harness back into place. Replace the foglight from the other side in the same way.

Lower the car and remove the jack from underneath.

Lost Hyundai car keys can be replaced relatively easy. However, it can be expensive, so is important to explore your options in order to save money. Many of the modern Hyundai keys are laser cut are can be replaced by matching the vehicle identification number, or VIN. Look near the base of the drivers side windshield. Locate a slim metal plate along the side of the windshield that will have the VIN number. Record the number and have your drivers license, registration and insurance documents on hand. This will be needed to prove ownership.

Visit you local hardware store if you are looking to simply make a duplicate of a non-computerized car key. Some later Hyundai Elantra car keys have computerized chips at the base of the key to open the locks. These cannot be made by the hardware store.

Call the dealership and ask for the parts department. Arrange a time or appointment to have the key replaced.

A door release latch is prone to break when the latch has not opened all the way, causing it to snap shut while the door is still open. If the door is subsequently shut with a moderate amount of force, the outside of the latch when it slams against the door striker can fault. The result might leave the door no longer closing or releasing properly. Changing the door release latch on a Hyundai Elantra is actually fairly easily, but getting to the latch without ruining your door panel does require some finesse.

Removing the Door Panel

Unscrew the door lock button on the inside of the door.

Pull down gently on the armrest and remove the two screws.

Unscrew the inside door handle trim.

Remove the window handle by pushing in on the panel and then pulling out the clip.

Unscrew the outside mirror mounting cover, followed by the mount and mirror.

Remove the weather stripping. Sometimes scraping it off with a chisel or knife is necessary.

Slide the door panel remover around the sides of the panel to locate the clips. When you find a clip, gently pop it out of place. If your car is older, the panel may be weathered so you should take care not to pull the clip out of the panel.

Disconnect the speaker wire.

Replacing the Latch

Unscrew the door latch from the door.

Disconnect the latch from the door handle rod and the safety lock rod.

Make sure the new latch is open.

Reattach the safety lock rod and the door handle rod. Some doors may not have the safety lock rod; in either case, take care not to bend the rods.

Fasten the latch back to the door frame and make sure it opens and shuts correctly.

Put the door panel and hardware back on.

Hyundai is a car manufacturer in South Korea that primarily makes compacts and subcompacts. The 2001 models use multi-port fuel injection, which requires the fuel pump to deliver fuel to the injectors at high pressure. The procedure for repairing the fuel pump in a Hyundai is generally the same for all models from 1999 to 2005. The fuel pump is attached to the fuel tank, requiring you to remove the fuel tank when replacing the fuel pump.

Remove the rear seat cushion to expose the access panel in the floor of the vehicle. Open the access panel and disconnect the electrical connector for the fuel pump. Start the engine and allow it to stall. Turn the ignition off.

Open the filler cap for the fuel tank and place a hose into the filler tube. Siphon as much fuel as possible from the fuel tank into a container for gasoline.

Disconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench to prevent in the accidental discharge of fuel. Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. Disconnect the fuel supply line, fuel return line and fuel vapor line from the fuel tank. Detach the fuel fill hose and fuel vent hose from the fuel tank.

Remove the electrical connector from the fuel level sender. Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the fuel tank straps with a socket wrench. Disconnect the fuel tank from the vehicle and lower it to the ground. Move the fuel tank to a work area.

Disconnect the mounting bolts on the fuel pump with a socket wrench. Disconnect the fuel pump from the fuel tank.

Install the new fuel pump to be fuel tank, and tighten the mounting bolts for the fuel pump to between 12 and 24 inch-pounds with a torque wrench. Complete the installation of the new fuel pump by performing steps one through five in reverse order. Filled the fuel tank with fuel, and check the fuel system for leaks.

The Hyundai Elantra is a compact car made by Hyundai Motor Corporation since 1991. The 2005 model belongs to the third generation, which was in production from 2000 to 2006. The water pump on this vehicle circulates coolant around the engine to prevent it from overheating. The water pump in a 2005 Hyundai Elantra attaches to the front of the engine, and requires the removal of several other components to access.

Place a drain pan under the radiator and remove the radiator cap to speed the draining process. Open the radiator drain plug and allow the coolant to drain out of the radiator. Replace the drain plug and radiator cap.

Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench to prevent the battery from producing sparks. Remove the accessory drive belts. Disconnect the hose to the radiator and the bypass hose, if your vehicle is so equipped.

Remove the pulley for the water pump with a socket wrench. Disconnect the front cover for the timing belt and the timing belt. Remove the bracket for the alternator.

Remove the mounting bolts for the water pump with a socket wrench and record their location, since the bolts have different lengths. Detach the water pump from the engine block and discard the gaskets.

Install the new water pump and gaskets to the engine block. Tighten the mounting bolts to between 14 and 20 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench.

Connect the alternator bracket with a socket wrench. Install the timing belt and its front cover. Attach the pulley for the water pump and the hoses for the radiator. Connect the accessory drive belts.

Attach the the cable to the negative battery cable with a socket wrench and fill the radiator with coolant. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

You can reset the computer on your 2005 Hyundai Elantra from your driveway or garage to save yourself time and money. The On Board Diagnostic computer keeps track of all the mechanical and electrical functions of your vehicle. When it receives a trouble code, it sends an alert to you in the form of a warning light on the Elantras instrument panel. The computer also keeps track of the vehicles regular maintenance needs. After you have had the car serviced or repaired, you need to reset the light in order to keep the computer functioning properly.

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position. Do not start the engine.

Find the Elantras diagnostic port under the dashboard near the hood release lever.

Plug the computerized scan tool into the diagnostic port. Use the arrows on the faceplate of the scan tool to navigate to the "body module" on the menu. Next you should select "clear all codes." This will reset the vehicles computer.

Unplug the scan tool and start the engine. Verify that all warning and service lights have turned off of the dash.
