How to Replace Injectors on a 6 0 Diesel Engine
The Ford 6.0 Power Stroke is an eight-cylinder 6.0-liter engine that Ford has manufactured since 2003. It is a diesel engine that Ford most often uses in large vehicles such as 3/4-ton and 1-ton pickups. The function of the fuel injectors is to deliver fuel in a precise timing and quantity. You can replace the fuel injectors on the Ford 6.0 diesel engine without removing the fuel rail, unlike most gasoline engines.

Remove the valve covers with a socket wrench and detach the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Disconnect the mounting bolts for the crankcase-to-head tube assembly and remove the assembly from the crankcase.
2Disconnect the oil rail from the engine. Push the electrical connector for the fuel injector out of the rocker arm carrier with a small pry tool.
3Plug the oil drain holes next to the glow plugs with clean cloth. Disconnect the retaining bolt for the fuel injectors with a socket wrench and release the hold-down clamp.
4Pry the fuel injectors from the engine with a Snap-On SDMT440 Torx tool so that you dont damage the fuel injectors. Discard the O-rings and copper washer on the fuel injector. Pull the cloth from the oil drain holes.
5Mount new O-rings and copper washers to the fuel injectors. Coat the fuel injector assembly with clean engine oil and install the fuel injector. Attach the hold-down clamp for to the fuel injector and torque the mounting bolts to 24 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench.
6Place the electrical connector for the fuel injector electrical into the rocker carrier. Lubricate the top O-rings on the fuel injector with engine oil.
7Install the oil rail into the fuel injectors so that the mounting feet of the oil rail are flush with their mounting surface on the engine. Install three guide bolts to hold the oil rail in place.
8Install six of the nine mounting bolts for the oil rail. Replace the three guide bolts with the three remaining mounting bolts. Tighten all nine mounting bolts to 10 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench.
9Connect the crankcase-to-head tube assembly and tighten the mounting bolts to 60 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench. Attach the electrical connector to the fuel injector and install the valve covers.

How to Change the Water Pump on a Cummins 5 9L Turbo Diesel
The Cummins B Series of engines are diesel engines for trucks and industrial applications. The six-cylinder, 5.9-liter version has appeared in Dodge Ram trucks since 1989. These engines are turbocharged and require an effective cooling system to prevent the engine from overheating. The water pump in a Cummins 5.9-liter diesel engine is on the front of the engine, below the cooling fan. The replacement of the water pump in this engine requires the removal of additional components.

Remove the cable from the negative terminal of both batteries with a socket wrench. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain and remove the drain plug. Wait for the coolant to drain from the radiator and replace the drain plug.
2Detach the electrical connectors from the air temperature sensor and the mass airflow sensor if your vehicle is so equipped. Detach the inlet tube for the turbocharger and remove the housing for the air filter with a socket wrench. Remove the alternator assembly.
3Rotate the tensioner assembly clockwise with a long-handled wrench to relieve the tension on the accessory drive belt, then disconnect the belt. Remove the mounting bolts for the water pump with a socket wrench and disconnect the water pump from the engine. Remove and discard the O-ring from the water pump.
4Install a new O-ring onto its mounting groove on the water pump. Install the water pump so that the weep hole on the water pump faces down. Torque the mounting bolts for the water pump to 18 foot-pounds with a torque wrench.
5Install the accessory drive belt with a long-handled wrench. Connect the alternator assembly and torque its mounting bolts to 30 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. Install the air filter housing and attach the inlet tube for the turbocharger. Attach the electrical connectors to the air temperature sensor and mass airflow sensor.
6Refill the radiator with coolant and connect the cables to the negative battery terminals with a socket wrench. Start the engine and allow it to warm up. Check and correct any coolant leaks.

Repairing a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 equipped with the 5.9 liter Cummins diesel motor may be simple or difficult, depending on the required repairs. How do I Replace 7 3L Diesel Injectors
Ford manufactured its eight-cylinder, 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel engine from 1994 to 2002. This engine was a complete redesign from Fords previous 7.3-liter engine and featured electronic control with direct fuel injection. This engine is common in heavy Ford trucks, and is the standard engine for the 2002 Ford F350 Super Duty truck with four-wheel drive. The replacement of the fuel injector in this vehicle requires special tools and the removal of additional components to access the injectors.

Disconnect the valve cover with a socket wrench, and unplug the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Remove the drain plugs from the oil rail to keep oil out of the combustion chamber while you replace the fuel injectors.
2Remove the retaining screw for the oil deflector with a socket wrench and disconnect the oil deflector. Disconnect the retaining bolt for the fuel injector.
3Remove the fuel injector from the injector bore with Injector Remover No. T94T-9000-AH1 and discard the copper washers. Loosen any debris in the injector bore with Rotunda Injector Sleeve Brush 104-00934-A and clean the injector bore with a shop towel.
4Install new copper washers on the new fuel injectors and lubricate the injectors with engine oil. Push the fuel injectors into the injectors bore to seat the O-rings. Seat the fuel injectors into the injector bores with Injector Replacer No. T94T-9000-AH2.
5Install the oil deflector and tighten its retaining bolt to 108 inch-pounds with a torque wrench. Replace the drain plug on the fuel rail and tighten it to 96 inch-pounds. Install the drain plug on the oil rail and tighten it to 53 inch-pounds. Connect the wiring harness for the fuel injector and install the valve cover with a socket wrench.
