So Fix it

During the life of your Trailblazer, the bulbs in the headlight may burn out and need to be replaced. In order to replace these bulbs, the headlight assembly needs to be removed from the front of the vehicle. Removing the headlight assembly allows you to access the bulbs, which are connected to the sockets on the electrical connectors. Before starting this project, the bulbs will need to be purchased from an auto supply store.

Open the drivers side door and pull the hood release lever to release the hood. Lift the hood up and set the support bar.

Find the snap clips that are used to secure the grill to the front of the vehicle. Pry the retainer clips with the flat head screwdriver to release them. Pull the grill off of the vehicle.

Find the retainer clip that is located in the upper left or right of the headlight. Push up on the retainer clip with the flat head screwdriver. Look under the fender, beneath the headlight, and locate the second retainer clip. Push this retainer clip up with the screwdriver.

Press the release tab that is on the back of the headlight assembly. Pull the electrical connector out of the headlight. Pull the headlight assembly out and set it on a bench or table.

Pull off the two rubber caps on the back of the headlight assembly to expose the headlight bulbs. Turn the socket counterclockwise and pull the bulb out of the headlight. Lift up the tab on the electrical harness and then pull the bulb out of the socket.

Insert a new bulb into the socket and then place the bulb back into the headlight. Turn the socket to the right or clockwise to lock it in place. Set the rubber caps back in place over the electrical connector.

Set the headlight back in place and then reconnect the electrical connector. Push the upper and lower retainer clips back in place to secure the headlight.

Set the grill back in place and then push on it firmly to secure the retainer clips to the frame.

When a blower motor resistor fails, the blower motor will only operate in one speed; this is often the first and only sign of a faulty blower motor resistor. This malfunction occurs because the resistor regulates the amount of current flowing to the blower motor in relation to the position of the fan speed control knob. Since the blower motor switch in a 2007 Nissan Versa is located behind the brake pedal assembly, a number of components must be disassembled in order to perform this repair.

Removal

Shut off the engine and open the hood. Disconnect the negative battery terminal with a metric box-end wrench.

Open the drivers side door and remove the fuse panel cover. Remove the screws holding the lower panel finisher with a metric nut driver. Pull the lower panel finisher away from the dashboard until it pops loose. Disconnect the diagnostic data ports electrical connector and remove the finish panel from the vehicle.

Disconnect the accelerator pedal position sensors electrical connector. Remove the stop lamp switch from the brake pedal assembly by gently popping it loose.

Remove the snap and clevis pins from the brake booster with a small flat-head screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. Remove the nuts holding the brake pedal assembly bracket to the vehicle with a metric socket and a ratchet. Remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle.

Locate the blower motor resistor. It is situated directly behind the brake pedal assembly on the rear of the firewall. It is held in place by two screws and is rectangular in shape. Disconnect the blower motor resistors electrical connector. Remove the screws holding the blower motor resistor to the vehicle with a screwdriver and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation

Set the new blower motor resistor in place and reinstall its retaining screws. Reconnect its electrical connector.

Inspect the brake pedal assembly for deformations, bends, cracks, and any sub-standard condition. Measure the lapping length of the sub-bracket and side plate with a metric caliper. Ensure that the length is at least 6.9 mm. If any of these conditions are out of specification, replace the brake pedal assembly before proceeding.

Set the brake pedal assembly in place and reinstall the nuts holding the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle with a metric ratchet and socket. Reinstall the snap and clevis pins to their original location.

Reinstall the stop lamp switch into the brake pedal assembly. Check the brake pedal assembly to ensure that it operates properly.

Set the lower panel finisher into place and press down on it until it snaps into position. Reinstall the lower panel finisher screws. Reconnect the diagnostic data ports electrical connector and reinstall the fuse panel cover.

Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn on the ignition and test the blower motor to ensure that it operates properly at all speeds.

The six-CD changer in a 2007 Ford F-150 allows you to listen to six different discs without changing them. The changer has a disc reader that moves between the six slots to play each disc. Since the changer resides in the F-150s dashboard, its prone to overheating from the temperatures associated with dashboard components, as well as the sunlight striking the dash. While the six-CD player is not repairable by anyone without highly specialized factory training, for the do-it-yourselfer, removing the player for repair or replacement is an easy option.

Removal

Insert the Ford radio removal tools into the dual holes on the two outer edges of the six-CD faceplate until they click into place.

Pull outward on the radio removal tool handles to release the CD changer retaining tabs clear the retaining brackets. Pull backward on the radio removal tool handles to slide the CD changer clear of the dashboard.

Reach behind the CD changer and unplug the antenna plug and power/speaker wiring harness connector by hand. Remove the Ford radio removal tools from the CD changer.

Reinstallation

Connect the antenna plug to the back of the six-CD changer by hand.

Connect the power/speaker wiring harness connector to the back of the changer by hand.

Slide the CD changer into the dashboard until it clicks into place with the faceplate flush with the dashboard.
